Twitter 365 Project – Day 32

365 grums in one day.
The first day of February had finally arrived signifying the return of the Big Day Out music festival to Perth. That morning I woke up to find myself red raw thanks to an unplanned nap at the beach the day before so I decided to lather myself in Palmer’s Cocoa butter and venture east to the Claremont Showgrounds.
Entry was a breeze for me although I did hear a lot of people complain about things being confiscated. Strangely enough I wasn’t bag searched upon entry even though I did carry a bag with me large enough that it could have easily held several litres of booze, drugs, weapons or explosives. Guess I have a trustworthy face…
The video was a bit of a task to compile but it was definitely worth it. I borrowed Somegen’s Canon G10 and ran around the show grounds asking randoms for a pic for about 4 hours give or take. Not everyone wanted to get their pic taken but they were all incredibly friendly and I found myself getting into lots of long conversation, some choosing to unload their life story on me and some chose to share their liquid refreshments that they smuggled into the grounds.
At the end of the day, my memory card had 493 photos on it. I imagine I spoke to about 550 people in total that day, perhaps bump that to 600 if you include the people I wasn’t hassling for a picture. Knowing my luck, the fact that I was delirious from the hea, I decided to continue taking pictures of once I hit the 365 mark. A small bunch were out of focus, badly exposed or certain things were captured in the picture that really shouldn’t be published on the internet. Lets just say that my earlier application of cocoa butter made me smell like chocolate mousse and a couple of confused concert goers decided I looked edible.
I spent most of the next day editing this clip and I vow never to use crappy software ever again. As this is a video, it cant be submitted to the twitter365 group so I organised a second submission for the project here.
The day was an absolute blast – I got to frolic with 38,000 people and listen to music by a bunch of bands that I have absolutely no idea about. After the show I got to hang out with the aforementioned bands at the private VIP after party. I found myself drinking way too many free cocktails and getting into a deep and meaningful conversation about inverted vaginas with stoned bass players. I got to bed at around 4AM and even a day later I’m still feeling sore all over.
SO. MUCH. FUN!
Taken for the Twitter365 Project.
