Question by jacky s: do you think that Doing non-work related computer activities deprives the company of the employee’s?
The premise is that the employer hires employees under the assumption that they will work their assigned hours in exchange for pay and other compensation. Tools are provided to assist that employee in doing their job.

so basically should facebook and myspace and twitter and other websites be accessed from a work’s computer?

Social media sites should only be accessible to those employees in the company responsible for the social media promotion of the company itself – i.e., advertising, promotion or marketing staff might have legitimate reasons to access such sites for business purposes, or to research other companies social media pages.
