Question by Nicholas Cristella: What is the best way to create a mobile application using Microsoft visual studio and express?
Alright I downloaded expression suite and have been running through the basic. Though expression is closer to what I have been looking for it still doesn’t hit the mark. A lot of task that should be basic and simple become complicate right away. I should easily be able to link pages, create tabs with no coding, and insert data and formatting with almost no coding. (basically just a link or feed). Like Powerpoint I should be able to add transitions and different movements and see them demonstrated as I go. I believe movements are sort of the transitions and gesture and animations but I am not certain. Though I notice the emulator has to be run every time just to make sure the application is running as I have set out to do. As for creating custom button it hasn’t worked for me as importing and exporting has shown to be incompatible within the suite itself. I have used some of the references MS internal blogs provided though these are rather basic and don’t really provide real application. Such as inserting twitter feeds etc.

I understand the SDK and a pre-developed buttons and packages to some extent, though are these as simple as opening and inserting. Nothing at this point seems that simple. I can’t understand why this isn’t more like web design connecting links to one another with the advance coding come from the application itself. Shouldn’t the SDK/PDK development tools/designed buttons and graphics show somewhere in the program? Kind of like clip-art I select buttons and all the buttons show. I select scrolling bars and all the bars show, I right click and insert what I want the button to do. I open animations and I choose the animation when clicked. Obviously Mobile applications can be more customize and more advance but they don’t have to be. So what is the best way to go about design an application. I have downloaded the mobile platform and no some of the basics, but really in what order would you develop an application before getting into anything advanced. I pretty much what to design the structure of the application so it function click by click within the application itself before it connects to any external feeds. Including scroll bars, internal links, transitions, animations, logins, and bubbles(pop-up pages within a page when an appropriate button is pressed).
I’ve tried most platforms, Android, Palm, Now Microsoft. Visual studio is MS phones only as far as I know.

No I am not using powerpoint. My reference was to the ease of use of the navigation and tools. Yes I have basic understand of HTML.

I am not willing to going in to source codes to make a half-ass application I kind of want to know the development software can do what I want it to before I start and I’m certain it can to some extent. Looking in relevance to most first party applications/or larger 3rd party companies. Their development of applications , at supposedly the highest level still aren’t equating to what I want to do. Another words most productive applications are under a level that I otherwise know to be quite basic. If you take a look at my previous question this may give you more understanding of where I am coming from. I believe the programming should do most of the work. Looking at visual stuid, it is closer to how I believe it should handle programing and coding
I am certain there is a huge need for a somewhat universal module to upload SDK software into. I tried eclipse but by the time I ran through everything using a separate virtual box became ridiculous and it was so poorly packaged I couldn’t get the program to run after hours. There is simply way to much work and over complication to arrive at the same amount of application or in most cases less. Phones know how they want to run though companies are not producing programming and coding within a package within something closer to visual studio. Again powerpoint if a prime reference to adding animations, clip art and other actions and than allowing them to demonstrate in near real-time as you are building an application. The way coding stands now for most mobile platforms one could spend hours and figure out he doesn’t like the coding he has prepared or I would have to run an emulator that is a pain in the ass to run every time. Palms doesn’t even work.
Why should I have to learn your Coding for something that is obviously obsolete before it starts?

One almost has to commit his life to bad coding software. Maybe that is why deadbeat software developers are a cliche’ . (kidding) If I have to look around in 20 areas to find what I’m looking for it is simply incorrect. Beside the games that are developed in other software, most applications are much too basic and anything above this set basic level becomes overtly complicated much too quickly. The idea is to run webpages, using flash or advance code from the manufacturer and develop them as one would webpages and insert buttons and attributes created in the sdk to enhance the application to create proper formating and advanced graphics.

1. For what mobile platform are you trying to design?
2. Are you actually trying to use Powerpoint to make an application?
3. Do you have any idea how to program?
