like facebook, twitter and so on? my dad signed me up for the blackberry plan, and i can use the blackberry messenger, email and so on. does that mean i can use the blackberry app world?

If you’re able to use the Blackberry Messenger, you should have BIS access, so downloading apps from App World is possible.
If your phone has Wifi, you could possibly access Blackberry App World through there, but you’ll have to set the permissions to use Wifi instead of Data.
