Q&A: What’s wrong with my computer/ and or internet?

Question by –Imanginary World–: What’s wrong with my computer/ and or internet?
Okay, so this is what’s down.. 🙂

When I click on the ‘Internet’ icon, it opens up the internet.. But.. the thing is, is that when it opens, it shows absolutely nothing.. It shows the icons at the top of the page, like ‘ file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, and help.’ and also the Web Address bar, but it won’t show the main page, and when I click to go somewhere like Yahoo! or Twitter, it won’t allow me to go there, and it says ‘ Yahoo is taking too long to respond. or the page is currently unavailable … But on every other computer or laptop in my house, the internet is working fine and they can go to their wanted web pages.

So can someone please tell me what is wrong with my computer? And how to fix this problem?

P.S. I am on my dad’s computer writing this question.. So please help !!
That is all.. Thank you.

Are you hard wired or wireless? Im guessing wireless, Im also guessing you have rebooted the computer. Same thing, sounds like the ?router and the computer are having a comm problem, try disconnecting from the network and then seeing if you can find it again and get the same problem.
You might have to reenter the encryption password again. Im assuming all other computer go through the same router?

  • SpkrBox850 says:

XP: Click start> click run. Type ‘cmd’, press enter
Vista & 7: Click start> type ‘cmd’, press enter

    Type exactly this: ipconfig /release
It may take a minute or two, don’t touch anything till you the blinking underscore.

When you see it type exactly this: ipconfig /renew
Again, it may take a minute or 2. When u see the blinking underscore again you can exit the command prompt and your internet should work.

    That’s it
